Only the man with puck can recieve a "Hit" , while he has the puck and about a 1.5 sec period before and after he receives the puck can he be Hit. As long as a man doesn't leave his feet upon delivering a Hit or make contact with the elbow to the head....its all nice and legal. Most of these neutral zone train wrecks are because of terrible decisions by the D men passing up to the Forwards. Yes the Goalies get hit, but the guy who makes contact will have to fight and the Goalies are craziest guys in the league mentally, they have an axe in one hand and Blocker in the other, they can do some damage

Rules for bodychecking are as follows: No elbows or knees (you can only bodycheck someone with your shoulder or hip) No hits to the head No cross-checking (using the shaft of your stick to hit your opponent) You can only hit the player that has possession of the puck or just touched it. Most of these hits are clean and legal hits. Basically, if you’re the guy with the puck, keep your head up. That is hockey 101. Never EVER skate with your head down.
